It’s not something for which I made much (any) time in the past but I’m reading (or listening to audiobooks) more than ever. Reading is a great way to learn and grow and I will often feel inspired after reading a book and certainly better than after spending an hour on social media.
But what am I reading at the moment and what are my favourite books?
Here’s my answers:
1. What book did you last read?
The Book of Trespass: Crossing the Lines that Divide Us by Nick Hayes2.
2. What are you reading at the moment?
Atomic Habits by James Clear
3. What book would you like to read next?
I’d like to finish reading Eternal Echoes by John O’Donohue
4. What are some of your favourite books?
The Sheltering Desert by Henno Martin, Into the Wild by Jon Krakaur Anam Cara by John O’Donohue, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakaur, Wild by Cheryl Strayed, The Way Home by Mark Boyle, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and Mans Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
5. What books had the biggest impact?
When I was much younger, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle was a very important read but Anam Cara by John O’Donohue is definitely the one which impacted me the most.
Ps. There’s some recommendations from others in the comments below 🙂

Reading “A Gentleman in Moscow” … not finished yet but am really enjoying it. Beautifully written.
I just googled this book, Mary Jo. Glad to hear it – Sounds like a crazy story !
Oh great hope you enjoyed The Way Home!
Last read -An Irish Cottage by Marion McGarry
Currently- That Place We Call Home by John Creedon
Lavinia, I really enjoyed The Way Home – especially the second half of the book which I felt was much better than the first. I also bought my brother that book by John Creedon for Christmas – we are both fans!
I’m reading “Patrick. Son or Ireland” by Stephen R. Law head. Thoroughly enjoying it. Just finished My Father’s Wake.
Interesting choices, Debbie. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Derek! I’m reading “Stonehenge Decoded” by Gerald S. Hawkins. It was published back in 1965, and made the case that Stonehenge was an ancient astrological observatory. Very interesting.
Love it, Erin. I’m reading a lot about the ancient Celtic world lately and it talks about a lot of similar things to this! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I love the ancient Celtic world even more! If you have any reading recommendations I’d love to hear about them.
“Anam Cara” by John O’Donohue is by far my favourite so far. You’ve maybe read that one before but if not – please do!
I haven’t read it. Will do. I love this stuff, thank you! I like your site, by the way.
My last book was Nala’s World by Dean Nicholson. Now reading Out in the Midday Sun by Elspeth Huxley. I have an eclectic taste in my reading material. I usually have a couple of books going at the same time, always some kind of mystery. Since I am older now with health issues, I especially enjoy true life adventure stories. Loved watching your walk around Ireland, looking forward to your next big walk!
Very interesting Melissa. Thanks for sharing and thank you very much – I really enjoyed documenting that walk and looking forward to the next one which should hopefully take place this summer 🙂
